Did you know it was National Hamburger Month? What better way to celebrate than sharing delicious hamburger recipes using Hamburger Helper®. There are a lot of great flavor options to choose from, my kids love beef pasta and my husband loves potato stroganoff. I like them because they are an efficient meal option and an easy dinner idea I can do a little more with. When I say more I mean spiced up with our favorite side dishes and in a short amount of time.
For today’s recipe I will show you how we can spice up Potato Stroganoff, these recipe ideas will work well with just about all the flavors. Visit Walmart to see all the selections they have. As an added bonus to the already affordable price, you can save with an Ibotta’s rebate offer. Start with a pound of ground beef in a medium heated pan. When stove top cooking we like a lean 7% hamburger. While the hamburger begins to heat up, chop your vegetables. (When I am being real efficient, I will have chopped veggies ready in a container.) For this recipe I used shredded carrots, diced bell pepper, diced onion, diced celery and a teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
Add this to your browning ground beef and let veggies simmer. In the meantime, add the potatoes from the Hamburger Helper® box to a bowl or larger measuring cup and add 1 1/2 cups water. Microwave for 2 minutes and let sit till we are ready.After the hamburger and veggies have simmered together for at least 5 minutes you will see the veggies start to become a little translucent. I don’t add any more of my own flavors to this recipe. I do add the Hamburger Helper® packet to the mix. Mix together and add the potatoes we had previously warmed with the water in the microwave.
Mix potatoes with meat mixture, add 2 cups of milk and let simmer on medium low for 25 minutes.See those little red pepper flakes. They are going to add just enough warm to this dish that your taste buds might just thank you. I wish I had smell-a-vision for you right now. Because it smells amazing at this point.The sky is the limit when it comes to side dishes. Steamed broccoli or fresh green beans from the garden would be absolutely beautiful. Since I have some zucchini in the fridge I need to cook I decided to whip up some fried zucchini chips. If you would like a healthier option bake them in the oven.This was an easy dinner to make, all I needed was ground beef and some extra ingredients I had on hand. In under 40 minutes dinner is on the table, even shorter if you have veggies prepared. This also reheats wonderfully, my son will eat this up after school!
